School Shines Bright: Clinches Top Honors in Belthangady Rotary Club’s Cultural Extravaganza

Ujire, Jan 26, 2026: SDM School Interact Club, Ujire, stole the spotlight by securing the first prize in the vibrant variety cultural program at an innovative competition launched by the Belthangady Rotary Club for students from all seven Interact Clubs in Belthangady Taluk high schools. The event, held on January 25, 2026, at the seminar hall of SDM College, Ujire, featured thrilling cultural performances and cooking competitions, blending creativity, leadership, and community spirit.

The program was inaugurated by SDM College Principal Dr. Vishwanath, who urged students to embrace creative thinking and nurture fresh ideas to shape a brighter future. Presiding over the event, Rotary Club President Ro. Prof. Prakash Prabhu emphasized the role of Interact Clubs in fostering leadership qualities and social skills among high schoolers. He highlighted how the club serves as a platform for responsibility and meaningful initiatives, noting that this was the first time they collaborated with the Lions Club for the unique “Rotalaya Sangeet” competition, which captivated audiences and won public acclaim.

Chief guest and incoming Assistant Governor Dr. Shashikant Dongre elaborated on how Rotary Clubs empower communities through affiliates like Interact, Rotaract, and RCC, extending his best wishes for the program’s success. The event kicked off with a prayer led by Annette Saanvi, while Secretary Dr. M.M. Dayakar proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Shobhitha compered the proceedings, with judges Ms. Geethal Prakash Prabhu, Dr. Anita Dayakar, and Pavithra Sandesh Rao ensuring fair evaluations. Participants included Ro. Manorama Bhat, Ro. Sridhar KV, Ro. Dr. Raghavendra Pidhamale, Ro. Sandesh Rao, and Ro. Prof. Radhakrishna Maiya.

In the cooking competition for parents and Interact students, Harshit from SDM English Medium Interact Club, Dharmasthala, claimed first place, followed by Kumari Shafa from SDM Aided Secondary High School Interact Club, Ujire, in second.The cultural program delivered even more excitement, with SDM English Medium (CBSE) Interact Club, Ujire, triumphing in first place. Second honors went to SDM Secondary High School Interact Club, Ujire, and SDM English Medium Interact Club (CBSE), Ujire. Third place was shared by SDM English Medium Interact Club, Dharmasthala, and SDM English Medium Interact Club, Belthangady.
