School Celebrates Kanaka Dasa Jayanthi

Ujire, Nov, 7 — SDM English Medium School(CBSE), Ujire, marked the birth anniversary of the great saint, poet, and philosopher , Kanaka Dasa, with a vibrant and meaningful celebration.The event, aptly titled “Kanaka Stuti,” saw enthusiastic participation from the students, focusing on the profound contributions of the 16th-century poet-saint. The Principal, ManamohanNaik K.G., presided over the programme. He formally inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and offering floral tributes to the portrait of Kanaka Dasa.Students discussed the significance and historical background of Kanaka DasaJayanthi, shedding light on the poet’s life and philosophy.

A Role play was performed by the student Chintan. Keertanas (devotional songs) composed by Kanaka Dasa were sung by Class 6 students.Class 9 students, Shreya and Sahana, showcased their talent with a captivating dance performance set to Kanaka Dasa’skeertanas.A question-and-answer session was initiated by Swasthishree, a Class 10 student, encouraging deeper engagement with the saint’s works.The proceedings of the program were smoothly managed by the student comperes, Swasthishree and Alrick.The celebration served as an educational platform, reinforcing Kanaka Dasa’s timeless message of social equality, devotion, and critique of social injustice. The students’ performances and discussions ensured that the revered poet’s legacy was honored and his teachings were imparted to the younger generation.
